Giving Back to the Community

As temperature soar in Winnipeg today, CUPE 998 wanted to give back to the community by donating much-needed water to Main Street Project and Lighthouse Mission. Both shelters were extremely grateful for the donation.

Big thank you to Dillion at  No Frills on Goulet for making this possible. It’s important to Be Kind and Give Back when we can.

Privatization is not the Answer

Sisters, Brothers & Friends,

MGEU has been running a very successful campaign to keep liquor public in Manitoba, in response to the Pallister government’s legislation to further privatize liquor sales in Manitoba. While the legislation to further privatize liquor sales has been held over until the fall by the NDP, we need to keep putting the pressure on Pallister!

Affiliates are asked to please show solidarity by lending your support and sharing this campaign with members. You can send a message to Brian Pallister by signing the petition at https://ddei5-0-ctp.trendmicro.com:443/wis/clicktime/v1/query?url=https%3a%2f%2fkeepingliquorpublic.ca&umid=5ECF6A31-C01B-A505-B7CA-DDC41F9DEF78&auth=2628ad18b21f934c4a3f3bcb7fa326f6a4758e66-b0f220ddbb8cf6fa3fd5a5908ef5aad98dd81b40.

Manitoba’s publicly owned Liquor Mart profits contribute over $280 million a year to our communities – funding things like health care, schools, infrastructure and other critical services that we all rely on.

Now, more than ever, we can’t afford to take money out of our local economy or our public services. We need every dollar possible to stay here in Manitoba, to help keep our economy strong and people safe and healthy.

All affiliates are welcome and encouraged to send us info about your active campaigns – we’re always happy to promote and share with other affiliates. Together, we’re stronger!
