Over the past several months a community group has been organizing the annual Winnipeg Take Back the Night event. This historical event is organized to raise awareness about gender-based violence and remind folks the work in stopping violence is not yet done. This will be the first time we can go back to the streets since the start of the pandemic!
This year we will be starting the event with a couple of speakers at the Knox United Church at 6:30, on Thursday, November 24/22 then will march around Central Park to call for action to end gender-based violence and ensure the streets are safe for all.
We will then return to the church for refreshments and a couple more speakers. The theme is Marching From the ’70s Into Tomorrow as we reflect on what made this start in the ’70s, what has changed, and what we need for tomorrow. All speakers are local folks who will bring their insight and experience to the march participants.
